I’m an associate professor of State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering (SKLPPE), South China University of Technology (SCUT), which is the Top 1 papermaking research institute in China and it is as popular as the world famous papermaking research institute of VTT in Finland and FPInnovations in Canada.
My interests is as the follwing: Nano-technology with Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) and Microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) and nanocrystal cellulose (NCC), plant fiber composites, functional paper and fibers, paper physics & printability, energy-saving, analysis and optimization of energy processes, sustainable energy systems.and residue recovery.

     


Professor Jingsong Tao

  • Born in Hubei Providence, China in 1976. 
  • Obtained his BS in Papermaking Eng. from Hubei University of Technology (HBUT), with Prof. Nie X.Z. as mentor, in 2000.
  • Got his MS in Papermaking Eng. from South China University of Technology (SCUT), with Prof. Chen G. as advisor, in 2003, where he worked on paper and function paper.
  • Got his PhD in Papermaking Eng. from SCUT, with Prof. Liu H.B. as advisor, in 2006, where he worked on process simulation and control, and energy-saving.
  • Worked as a lecturer at State Key Lab. of Pulp and Paper Eng. at SCUT from 2006 to 2011.
  • Started his career as an assistant professor at State Key Lab. of Pulp and Paper Eng. at SCUT in 2011, where he is leading a group focusing on nanomaterials and functional fibers.

Experience

  • Visited UBC. FPInnovations, U. of Toronto, Canada, in May 2012.
  • Visited Metso Tissue Technology Center, Kalstand, Sweden, in March 2013.
  • Attended Tissue World Barcelona 2013 at Barcelona, Spain, in March 2013.
  • Worked as a visitor scholar at University of Maryland College Park from Aug. 2014 to Aug. 2015, where he worked with Prof. L.B. Hu on materials science and engineering.
